Game Over. Thanks for Playing.

It was fun while it lasted. After 3 months, my first L.A. relationship has come to an end. A rather strange end, as we talked briefly last Sunday about activities we had going on and realized we wouldn't be able to see each other until Monday or Tuesday. Then....nothing. I called & left a message Tuesday, and again on Wednesday. No response. Didn't see him online either. Thanksgiving came & went. No big deal for me holiday-wise, but it would have been nice to hang out & watch movies since I had the apartment to myself. Yesterday I was still in that awful headspace of not knowing whether to be totally pissed off or worried sick. Then I saw him online. Didn't talk to him. Just saw he was there. Now that I know he's alive, I hate him a little bit. Oh well. Point is it's done.

There's no excuse for not calling someone for almost a week. Even if he had gone out of town & forgotten his cell phone, there's always a way to get online & send someone a quick message letting them know you're okay. Common courtesy. There were bigger issues below the surface, that I won't get into here. Differences of opinion, different definitions of some key points. Different needs. Issues too big for the relationship to be sustainable, apparently. Life is short. I'm trying to keep the brooding to a minimum on this one. Next!

Hot Lottie

If someone had told me way back in my NYC days, that one day I would be wearing a g-string, bra, and boots, and working up a sweat shaking my ass in a jail cell with Alex Mitchell of Circus of Power fame, I never would have believed it. Not in a million years! Well that's exactly what I did today. I had SO MUCH FUN! Everyone there was super-nice: band, crew, the girl who played "Lottie", the director, and Becky from the Lunachicks, who played the cop. The video had a campy womens' prison theme. I won't say anymore. Just look for it in a few months.

Al had contacted me several weeks back & offered me the part in the video. Oh, hell yeah! Switched my dungeon work schedule around so I could do it. There's no way I was passing this up. Fat Nancy is the band's name, and if you love Circus of Power as much as I do, you've got to check them out. They're on myspace & they've got their own site as well: http://www.fatnancy.com/ .

Obviously I wasn't able to take any photos of the parts I was in, but I know at least one guy who was on set & left early was taking some pictures. I'm going to see if Alex can get them for me. If they're any good I'll post one or two here.

I think I may have actually cured my fear of the dance floor today. I mean come on, if I can get half naked & dance on camera, there is absolutely no reason why I shouldn't be able to get on the dance floor of a club, right? Tomas will be happy to hear that. I'm EXHAUSTED! It's only midnight but I'm off to bed.

Yay for Masochism!

Well, this is what I did at work today. I love my job. This is Puck. He's a masochist. Normally, one would not want to "wrap" anyone in welts. I would not do this to a client unless he asked for it. The usual procedure is to strike the butt, the back (away from the kidneys & spine), and sometimes the chest, all the while making sure the ends of the implement don't wrap around the sides of the body. Puck wanted me to wrap. He wanted marks all over him. I started off with a cane on his ass, then a buggy whip. Burned him a little with a cigarette. That was fun. Finished off with a bull whip, repeatedly wrapping it around his body at medium force. He wants it full strength next time. The session lasted an hour and fifteen minutes & both of us came out grinning like crazy. Sick, huh? I love it. :D

The art show at Boardner's the other night was pretty good. Some amazing pieces were on display. Although I didn't get any bites this time, I've got my next painting clearly visualized in my head. Now it's a matter of getting it out onto canvas.

Tomorrow I'm off to Silver Lake to appear in a video for Alex Mitchell's (Circus of Power) current band, Fat Nancy. It's going to be very camp, reminiscent of Russ Meyers films, and a hell of a lot of fun. Can't wait!!! I'm bringing my camera so someone can shoot some stills of the filming.

Oh, the other exciting thing that happened today was Dave Navarro left a nice comment on my Myspace page. Go check it out!

Another Art Show

I'm participating in another group art show next Thursday, at Boardner's off Hollywood Blvd. (home of Bar Sinister). Looking forward to it as it should be a great night with lots of exposure. Still choosing the pieces I'm going to display. Playing around with some sepia toned photos. Might have a combination of photos & paintings this time. Only four or five pieces. Decisions, decisions.

Went to downtown L.A. yesterday for a photo shoot. In the eight months I've lived here, I haven't had any reason to go there at all. Found my way without any problems thanks to Mapquest, but I'll admit I got a little nervous to see half a dozen police cars & a police helicopter surrounding the Federal Building. Great, my first trip to downtown & I'll get blown up. Someone later reminded me that it was Veteran's Day & that's probably why all the cops were out.

Shot some submissive photos with Mistress Kat9. The shoot was a lot of fun & I am beyond jealous of the loft space she is renting. 1200 square feet of warehouse space with high ceilings & daylight if you want it. Of course, in keeping with the dungeon atmosphere, she's got most of her windows covered with heavy drapes. Perfect space to paint, take photos, and basically do all kinds of creative stuff until all hours of the night, with a freight elevator for moving bulky things. I could use a space like that. Beyond my budget though, at least for now. She called this morning & invited me to an open house held there today by some of the artists, but I wasn't able to make it down there. Curious to see the layout of some of the other lofts spaces, so I will definitely go next time.

Bartending tonight at Passive Arts for an event called Goddess Nite. The event is meant to promote women in the arts. Not sure about this one. It could work, provided the women all have particular contacts in mind prior to the event, and that these contacts have been invited and actually show up. Otherwise, I would imagine it to end up being a bunch of women standing around saying look at how wonderful we are. Whatever. I'm going to pick up some cash for bartending. Will bring a few business cards & a few pieces of artwork just in case.

Malediction Society

There was an art show at Malediction Society last night. Heard about it at the last minute & was able to participate. The four pieces I brought were ancient & I was hesitant to bring them, but on the other hand putting these old pieces out there may be the best inspiration for creating new work. Can't exhibit the same old pieces at the next show!

Well I'm definitely inspired. I had several compliments about my work, one piece in particular which depicts a wolf in silhouette standing on some rocks & near a tree, howling at a full moon in a deep blue sky. I actually had two people enquire about purchasing it. It was sold & its new home (once it has a nice frame) is the very room where it was displayed Sunday. At the back of the club, it's a small sitting room with beautiful couches and chairs (two high-backed Victorian Gothic revival chairs that are to die for - see the b/w portraits on this post), antique tables, candle sconces, chandeliers, swords on the walls, deep burgundy walls & velvet drapes, and some dark & moody classically rendered paintings. I'm so flattered & can't wait to see the piece on the wall in that amazing room.

Here are some portraits of friends I took that night at Malediction. Erzsebet & Sal, Liam, and Little Bit. Originally in color, but I seem to have a thing for black & white photos lately.

The black and white looks good though. I am used to gothic pics being in black and white anyway. You should do sepia too.
And by the way, when did you add a link to my site? I love you!

Thanks! I've started playing around with sepia toned images - mostly old creepy churches & other run-down architecture.
I've had the link to your site up for quite a while now. Probably a year or more. Love you too!

Halloween at Hex

I was a schoolgirl Carver (Nip/Tuck - I'm addicted!) victim for Halloween. Halloween & Christmas have always been my two favorite holidays, and over the past few years I've missed out & been really sad because of all the money & family problems. No time for fun when you're struggling. This year I'm still having money problems, but I'm having a little fun as well and it feels sooo good.

Hex was SO much fun! My boy went with me & got to meet some of my friends. Everyone got along great. Sal played with me & no one freaked out, so I'm relieved. Actually, the scene started off with Sal bull-whipping me & ended with him on one side & Tomas on the other, both trying to persuade me to lift my feet & swing out over the dance floor. I kept telling them my thumbs & fingers were too dead at that point to grip the suspension cuffs, so they finally gave up. Tomas & I sat on the couch & watched as Sal clipped the ropes together, swung out across the stage, then jumped up on a podium & danced like a stripper, while still holding the ropes. Tomas started cracking up & pulled out his wallet, telling me to stuff a dollar in Sal's pants. Okay, these two are going to get along just fine! YAY!

My cat is snoring. Shhhh, kitty. I'm typing my blog.

No word on that video shoot. Just sent a message to see what's up. I've got a photo shoot tomorrow during the day, and just found out that a club I've gone to several times is looking for 3 more artists to display work there this Sunday. Sent an email about that, too.
Okay, time for me to snore with the kitty...
